Hi I’m Kelly and I blog at Kelby Sews.  May I present to you my LOL Quick Curve Ruler project.
This ruler was so amazingly easy to work with.  After two practice curves I had it.  Here is the main thing you need to know about this ruler:  YOU DON’T HAVE TO PIN OR CLIP CURVES.  Hello!  Praise the quilting goddess I don’t have to spend a million years pinning and cutting to achieve a pieced curve project.  The cutting went lightning fast too.  Love it.  I can’t wait to try out some of the great pattern’s Jenny created just for her ruler.  I especially love the Urban Beads.

This was not at all what I had planned on making, but when I showed my husband my first project with the Quick Curve Ruler he, very diplomatically, ignored what was in front of him and suggested I make an emoticon quilt.  DUH!  I should have asked him BEFORE I made that other project.  Trust me, you don’t want to see the other project, it was hopeless.  The problem was that I wasn’t staying true to my style.  I love bright, colorful, and fun.  Thankfully my hubby (and a few Flickr friends) encouraged me to start fresh.
I really wish I had the time to make a full size quilt because I could just see an entire quilt made from all the different emoticon expressions.  How perfect would that be for a teenager or that friend who is always texting?  I simply pieced 4 curves with different colored border pieces then appliqued the eyes and eyebrows.  This mini measures about 22.5″ square.
