‘Party Dress’ is the debut fabric line by designer Mo Bedell for Blue Hill fabrics. This pretty little collection would work equally well for both dresses and quilts and features the gorgeous cheater hexagon print above.

No party dresses – but my first dress for kindergarten was sewn by my mom and was a jiminy cricket print with a red background! I loved the print and was so proud to be wearing it my first day to kindergarten! elizabethlehman@hotmail.com
I love those fabrics! I had one homemade dress when I was a kid, and it was my favorite for parties, playgrounds, and anything else in between. I even remember scraping my knees pretty badly in that dress, which escaped unscathed somehow. The dress was a dark green calico print with little puffy sleeves. I loved that thing!
My favorite "special" outfit was a skirt, blouse and vest made for me when I was five by my mom and a close family friend. My mom made the blouse – a tiny floral print in pink, yellow and orange. The family friend crocheted the skirt (it was lined with the same fabric as the blouse) and the vest out of a very bright pink yarn. I wore it to a wedding and my grandmother told me I was so pretty, she wouldn't be surprised if they asked me to be the flower girl. I sat in that pew fully expecting someone to come ask me to be in the wedding, and was terribly disappointed when they didn't.
I didn't have a party dress, but there was a red dress my mother thrifted I played dress up in quite often.

My best party dress that I recall was aqua with white flowers all over, and a broderie anglaise strip vertical on the bodice. Very sweet!
My favorite dress when I was 4 years old was all white and pink and had a twirly skirt (one of those that when you spin they make a pretty circle). I wore it everywhere, not just to party. Two years later I hated dresses and never wore them again for the next ten years
These are gorgeous fabrics! I especially love that cheater hexagon print. My favorite dress from childhood was the pink and white dress I wore as a flower girl for my aunt Liz's wedding. I even had a matching summer hat, kinda like a Kentucky Derby hat. (this was back when hats were popular at weddings)
My favorite was not a dress but a full length coat.. aqua with a white lining. My Mom made this to go over my first prom dress when I was in high school.

My favorite party dress when I was little was a blue dotted swiss dress my grandmother made. I have five sisters and we all had the same style dress in different colors – all dotted swiss!
My favorite party dress of my childhood was a little floral dress my Mum made for me to wear to my 3rd grade 'graduation'. She wasn't much of a seamstress so it was truly a labor of love for her. It was frilly and twirly and I loved it!

My favorite was a sunny yellow smocked bodice dress that a man named Henri (a business partner of my father's) brought all the way from France. I wore it nearly to pieces, and recently found it in a cedar chest in my mother's attic. I still love it.
ha ha…my favorite party dress was the one my little sister wore…every day…orange sateen with ridiculous ribbons…i think my mom made it for a costume party and Weise just never took it off…she wore it everywhere and dragged around a wooden bead necklace with oodles of reclaimed, forgotten, lost keys attached to the end. ha ha…good memories…mind you, Weise about about 4 at the time…and very spoiled.
nothing funny about these gorgeous fabrics though…just lovely…lvoe the cheater fabric.
My favorite dress from my childhood was hand sewn by my grandmother. It was lavender and had beautiful smocking around the top. I didn't appreciate it then, but I sure do now! I can't wait to put it on my own daughter when she grow up

I was pretty much of a tom-boy, so few dresses for me, but i remember a denim jumper my mom made for me with a little applique apple on the bib. And then there was the most beautiful flower girl dress I had the chance to wear. So my two favorites – at two opposite ends of the spectrum: denim and satin & lace
I wasn't a very dressy girl but there was one dress that I utterly loved as a small girl. It was blue, covered in little blue flowers and I loved it so much that it never went back into the wardrobe; it would stay out, hung on the doorknob or anywhere where I could still see it if I wasn't in it!

My grandmother used to make me and my sister outfits and dresses. She made me an Easter dress once that I vividly remember because it was pink, which I didn't come to love until later in life. : )Love this fabric.

my grandmother was an amazing seamstress who made all my dress until nearly junior high. One of my favorites was a dress with strawberry bring that had a matching quilted vest! i really should scan a picture. She also used to make matching easter dresses for me and my teddy bear. so cute.
What a fun collection. I haven't seen these fabrics before. My favorite dress was the one my mom made for my baptism. It was a white dotted fabric and twirled beautifully.
I don't remember any particular dress but I remember desperately wanting my mom to make me a poodle skirt – I loved how you could twirl in them!
I don't remember any party dresses but I have been making dresses for my daughter lately…maybe she will remember hers!?

The first party dress that I remember was a sleeveless pink and white pinstripe with white lace down the front of the bodice. My grandmother made matching dresses for me, my two younger sisters, my mom, and herself!

I had one of those frilly,quilty,lacy,ribbon-y, over the top dresses from Jessica McClintock (sp?) – oh the '80s! when I was 11. I have a picture of myself in it. I'm really glad I discovered minimalism soon after.
Think, 1965? 66? Dark blue velvet; puffy sleeves; and (horrors) a crinoline! it was poofy and soft and beautiful and I loved it to death.
My mother always sewed coordinating Christmas dresses for my sister and me. The bubble dresses were my favorite…although I opted to skip that trend when it returned!

My favorite dress as a kid was this purple floral dress that I had in kindergarten. I wanted to wear it all the time! Ok- I just thought of about 4 more that I loved then- I was definitely a dress girl when I was little- and I still love a good party dress!

Oh that was a while ago; but, I remember a dress I loved that was probably from Mexico. It was crinkle cloth and best of all it was perfect to twirl in. Love the new fabrics.

ha ha — my favorite was not a party dress but a pink slinky nightgown with white ruffled trim. the best part? i believe it was 100% polyester. Totally tacky, but it made me think I was a princess!

Funny, I don't remember any part dresses from my young childhood, but in high school I had this awesome vintage formal that I bought at the thrift store. It was pink satin with little cap sleeves and sweetheart neckline and I would wear vintage pink heels with pearls! Loved it!

My favorite party dress was a dress my mom made me for kindergarten. It was Care Bear music fabric and had loads of ruffles. I still dream about that dress, and my mom regrets having given it away. Hopefully it's still out there somewhere bringing smiles to some little girl!
I had this green smock that had big birds head embroidered on the the top. Loved it. I also had some embroidered bell bottom jeans. I was a child of the 70's and my mother was happy to oblige in her embroidery! I was too much of tom-boy for dresses.

I had a beautiful red velvet dress with a white lace colour that my grandmother made for me. Being a tomboy, you didn'y often find me in a dress, but that one, I loved wearing!
My dress sounds almost like "What comes next?" above except mine was dark green velvet, but it was made by my grandmother as well.
I loved a lime green and white turtle print dress that my mom made from fabric we got on a trip to Key West, Florida. It was kind of a shirt dress with a collar but flared into a nice a- line shape from under the arms – very plain so the pattern of the fabric really was showcased. I wore it to my grade 8 graduation with white lace up to the knee gladiator sandals. (That would be about 1970) I now have he dress taken apart and the extra fabric that I want to make into a quilt. The turtle designs are still so beautiful.
I had a red party dress with tiny yellow flowers. With my perm I looked like Annie.
My favorite dress was made by my Mother out of yellow organdy. It had a full circle skirt and a big round collar with scollops edged with gathered white lace. It surely did make me feel special.

Love those dark blue flowers. My favorite dress was dark green corduroy, with white shirt cuffs and collars. It had a matching headband, which I wore as often as I could, so that it didn't match in the end. It lasted years, as it was made by a thrifty grandma and regularly let out. I should see about making one for the baby girl.
well we were quite poor growing up so I didn't ever have a party dress or parties to wear it to if I had one. I only remember one frilly light blue dress that someone gave me. it even had a fake pearl necklace attached! Hopefully I won't ever subject my daughter to something so ugly it will stick in her mind in 20 years!

My Grandmama sewed a dress with a matching headband for me when i was getting ready to start Kindergarten. It was a pretty dark-yellow dress, and she sewed daisies on it around the hem, and on the headband. I wore it to my first day of Kindergarten and for picture day… But for picture day, i "borrowed" a pair of my Grandmama's clip-on purple-beaded earrings, unbeknownst to my Mom & Grandmama. Boy, did they get a laugh out of that picture (once they got over the shock)!

Cheater hexies! Yay! Well, as a child of the 80s/early 90s, I specifically remember a dress that involved gold lame…and some major poofy crimpered hair… oy!
I don't think I had a favorite party dress, I was a tomboy as a kid and didn't really where a lot of dresses. We did have our "Patti dresses" that we all (we were a family of 4 girls) wore when we needed to dress up. They were made by a friend of the family named Patti-hence the name of the dresses!
My childhood favorite was always shorts and a tee shirt. Now I'm grown up I really like the pretty party dresses!!

No party dresses for me! I was a rough and tumble tomboy. I do, however, remember a very groovy pair of American flag pants (it was the early 70's) that I was very proud of and that I remember wearing while carrying around my equally groovy transistor radio.
Oh, my mom made me a blue, red and white plaid dress with Raggedy Ann decals on the pockets that I thought was just stunning in kindergarten!

I had a sunsuit I loved that my big sister made for me. It was yellow with jungle animals printed on it and it has a matching pair of shorts to go underneath.
I remember Sunday dresses complete with gloves, purse, hat, frilly socks & mary janes. For funzies, I used to turn petunia flowers upside down and pretend that they were girls in beautiful ball gowns.

The fabric wasn't as cute as HR fabrics. But I loooved that dress, it was so fresh and comfy.

My Mom was the most fantastic seamstress and she could make me anything I could dream up. For a prom at a military academy, I wanted to look like a "southern belle" and I envisioned a white taffeta strapless gown with full skirt and an "overskirted ruffle" pulled up on the sides. It was simply gorgeous and it looked so good next to those military uniforms! Mom just started drapping fabric over the dress form she owned and made a gown that fit me perfectly. She was amazing with her talent!

I can't remember a favorite party dress from my childhood but I do remember dresses and outfits that were hand-me-downs from my older (6.5 years) sister, some that my mom made herself. It's fun to look back at school pictures where my sister and I are wearing the same outfit for the same grade, just separated by 6 years (there are only a couple of school year photos like that).
What pretty fabrics! I'd love to add some to my collection. With three girls, you know I could come up with something pretty to do with them.

Ohhh, love this so much (especially the hexagon cheater print)! My favourite party dress was white with navy blue polka-dots; it had a big full skirt and puffy sleeves – I actually have a pretty great picture of me wearing it!
One year for Christmas, my mother and I had matching dressing- like how girls have dolls that have a matching dress- but it was my mother and I…don't know whose idea it was but it was cute at the time!
My favorite dress was a yellow chiffon pleated masterpiece! I refused to take it off and kicked my father in the shin. It was the only time I was ever spanked as a child. LOL! I'm still getting into trouble!!

My sister and I had matching dresses but in different colors. The best part about them was that they matched a paining my parents had of 2 young girls in dresses that were strikingly similar to ours. It was like we were the little girls in the painting. Pretty cool when you are 6!

I was a bridesmaid when I was three and had a big hooped skirt and puffball sleves. The fabric was small floral blue and which which was soooooo early 80s. My gosh it was a special dress. Seriously gutted when my Mother donated it to the Nursery dressing up box!

my favourite party dress from my childhood is the one i wore to my 2nd birthday party. it was made of red corduroy, and i wore it with white tights, red mary janes, and a string of brightly couloured ceramic beads that one of my mum's friends brough back from an overseas adventure. with my blonde curly hair i must ad mit i looked pretty cute, and the photos from that day are still some of my favourites now that i'm a grown up

My favorite party dress was a pale peach chiffon dress I was supposed to wear as the flower girl in my cousins wedding. Unfortunately I woke that morning all puffy …I had caught the mumps from my sister and cried and cried. I wore that dress every chance I had, until I outgrew it and it was handed down to my sister.

My mum was a demon with the sewing machine, and being late 80s meant we had some amazing raaraa skirted dresses etc, but my fav had to be the one with a sheared top and balloon appliqu?. I so underestimated her talent, and now Im to old to convince her to make any more, lol!

I did have several party dresses growing up, Mum would make me a new one each year. My favourite, if I can remember that far back, was a red velvet dress with a white lace collar. This would have been way back in the '50s, before most of you were born I guess. I have a photograph of me wearing it somewhere (yes it's in colour), definitely a show stopper ;o)

I'd have to say we didn't have party dresses growing up. Buy my mom could decorate a cake like no ones business. I can remember the year she decorated my cake with a My Little Pony. I think I'll start a party dress tradition for my girls.

Not a dress–a psychedelic pantsuit complete with big white zipper with ring zip pull. The swirly pattern was blue and white until the knees when it swirled into a gigantic bell bottom in red and white. Groovy, man.

My mum made both my sister and i a Holly Hobby style dress with the bonnet and the over laid apron and bonnet were patchwork,I had blues and my sisters was in pinks. Oh how i wish we still had them and my mum, she passed away from breast cancers 3 years ago. Although they weren't party dresses as such we wanted to wear them any chance we got. All I have to remember them by is a blurry photo of my sister and i proudly wearing these beautiful dresses. Knowing how mum didn't like to waste time I am amazed she took the time to cut up and piece together these dresses/aprons/bonnets.

As far as a party dress…..when I was little I always wanted, what I call a frufru dress…..all the bells and whistles. Baby blue, lots of layers on the bottom and lots of ruffles on top. I was so excited to get this because we didn't have a lot of money growing up, but this was a splurge. I was so proud and felt so beautiful in it. Our preschool allowed us to give surveys as a fun activity, and one day I surveyed the class about my dress. Everyone except a kid named Todd liked the dress. Funny, that's the only thing I remember about the preschool – the boy who hated my dress!
oh! I was a flower girl when I was 5 – and the dress was an eyelet concoction with a ruffled neck and tiers and a peach floral ribbon belt. I wore that dress for at least 2 Halloweens, my mom just kept adding lace to the bottom. I actually still have the ribbon belt!
I think my favorite will be the one I wore on my 5th birthday party, which was kind of a grand celebration.

The dress that stands out in my memory is one that my mom made me, and made matching for my sister. It was a bright blue with tiny flowers, very simple sleeveless raglan style with self-bias tape to finish the edges and that tied in bows at the shoulder. I still like that style.

I had a dress much like the ones that have recently become popular again, with a black tank-top like part, a wide middle elastic band, and a fluffy colorful gathered skirt. I wore it for years.
I don't remember having a party dress that was special, but living in Alaska we always celebrated Alaska Day (October 18th) by women wearing long dresses and bonnets and men growing beards and wearing older fashioned clothes. My favorite long dress was made by my momma and her friend and we all three matched, bonnets and all. Even though I can't still get into mine, I still have it and it is now over 40 years old!
I don't remember a favouite dress but I do remember a favourite pair of shorts. They were butterfly shorts. I remember the fabric vividly. It was a Hawain print. Dark turquoise background with gold hibiscus flowers. I wore those until I could no longer no up the button and breathe.
My mum made this adorable blue gingham frilly thing, I loved it so much I even wore it for school photos 2 years running.
When I was a little girl I lived for 1 year in Sri Lanka where my dad was on a assignment. I still remember that we were invited to a local wedding and my mum got me a lilac dress with tiny sequins, which made me feel like a princess. Even after I'd grown out of the dress, touching that fabric made me feel all special again!

I was 5-6 years old, and it was dark blue with white dots and it had an underskirt who just peeked out.

My mum has just given back to me the party dress I wore when I was 5 years old! It's a sort of green & blue gingham, full length with a frill round the bottom, little puff sleeves and a white broderie anglaise insert at the neck line. It came from M&S and my best friend had the same dress but in pink!
My mom made all of my clothes when I was little. My favorite was a pink blouse with little heart-shaped buttons with a pink print skirt. Very girly.
My favourite party attire was a red and black gypsy style skirt that my mum made, it has tiny ladybirds all over it and black ric rac. I still have it and now watch my kids dress up in it.

My favorite thing to dress up in as a young girl was aprons ( my mother had a ton of old ones ). I pretended that I was Cinderella waiting for my prince charming and my happily ever after.

I do remember I had a fancy blue toole dress with white polka dots on it. I spilled some Mercurochrome all over it and ruined it and then got scared that my mother was going to get mad so I wadded the dress up and stuck it in the hall closet. She never said anything to me about it but surely she's found it by now!!

I was a tomboy, so not a big dress wearer. I did have a smocked sundress with ties that I can remember.
I learned to sew as a freshman in high school and for one of my school dances, I made this "beautiful" dress out of tafeta. It looked like a princess dress (at the time, this is what I thought) with a cream colored bodice with puffy wine colored sleeves and skirt. I was very proud of that dress – wish I would have kept it, it would have given my daughters a good laugh!
The only real party dress I had was a floor length, empire-waist gown for a Filipino debut sort of thing. Sadly, it was lost in one of our many moves as a military family.
The dress that comes to mind wasn't in my childhood. It was a dress I wore in my 20's. It was a cotton dress with bright, large red flowers, much like some of the current Kaffe Fassett designs. It had cap sleeves and a tight bodice with a button front and belt. The skirt was a very wide flare so when I moved fast it twirled around me. Everyone commented on it, and I called it my "Lana Turner Patio Dress" because I always felt like I was going to a summer patio party when I wore it. (BTW, I was in my 20's in the 70's.)
My mother made my favorite party dress – this was a psychedelic patterned halter style "maxi" dress. This was 1969 – believe it or not, a few months ago I was helping my mother clean out boxes in her attic and we found this dress, along with all the scrap fabric and the pattern – I swear my mother cannot throw out ANYTHING! (but I was so secretly glad she kept this!) So I brought it home and will find something to do with it – perhaps line the back of a frame with it and put in a picture of me wearing the dress on my birthday – LOL!

One of my earliest memories is of my "bows on the pocket dress".
It was a little soft lilac color with a tiny flower print. It had a puffy setin sleeve and a round color; the best part was 2 little pockets that were sorta gathered on the front of the dress and each little pocket had a darker purple shade velvet bow on them.

My favorite party dress when I was little was a beautiful red taffeta frock with a big tulle underskirt. I still have it – although it is now patched in numerous places and the tulle is missing big chunks. It's the perfect dress up dress for the little ones now. It still makes me happy every time I see it!

I honestly don't remember any dresses from when I was young. BUT – I do remember this fluffy tule slip that I had to wear under my dresses. My older sister and I had a little brother and we used to make him wear it when he wanted to play with us. If he wanted to play with the girls.. he needed to dress like one. LOL We have pictures to prove it. Sometimes with a scarf in his hair.

Party dresses weren't big at our house so much as pretty matching dresses for myself and my 2 sisters, always for Easter. Fabric scraps went to my Dad to tie up our tomato plants. A year later we found 2 bird nests that contained that patchwork cheater cloth scraps.

What a lovely giveaway question! My favourite party dress was known as my 'Lady Di dress'. It may have had a large white collar which was briefly popular in the early 80s, but I suspect cunning on the part of my Mum. Who may well have named it as the words 'Lady Di' had a predictable effect on a 5 yr old and produced lots of doe-eyed and (unusually) demure behaviour on my part. Actually that's a thought that'll fester…

I do remember a red & white fluffy dress I had when I was a toddler, but I only 'remember' it because there is a photo of me wearing it with one of my uncles. I DID have a room completely decked out in Strawberry Shortcake stuff. I think that's where all my frilliness went. I even had strawberry shortcake table & chairs! And my Mom made me a pink & white macrame hanging lamp for over my bed. That made me feel more like a princess than any dress could!

My mom made me this dress with a gold lame skirt and black velvet bodice, with some gold lame roses at the waist. I LOVED IT. Seriously, I wanted to wear it every day, even in June when it was 90 degrees and black velvet was a completely inappropriate wardrobe choice. I wanted to wear it even when it didn't fit me anymore. I wanted to wear it to the grocery store. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen.

I was 10 years. My mother, Nana and I went to the department store in the city for my annual buying of clothes. This was very special as Mum always made me clothes because we could not afford much in those days – 4 kids etc.
I came home with the most amazing dress. It was white with giant black and gold sunflowers on it. It cost $9 and I was so happy and grateful. I wore that dress for years despite the fact that my legs kept growing longer and longer. It was so hard to give up and remains my most favourite memory of new clothes.
I don't remember having a party dress, but I do still have a dress my mom made for me when I was a little girl. I keep it hanging in my closet so I don't misplace it. It wasn't her best work, but I wouldn't part with it for the world!
Despite not being very girlie, I would request the most ridiculous frilly dresses for my mom to sew. The one I remember the most clearly, I even wore it to kindergarten on my birthday, was pale blue with ruffles and lace at the hem, puff sleeves and trimmed all over with ribbon pulled through yards and yards of lace. I think it must have had its own built in crinoline. Wow, I can't believe she humored me like that! The blue at the very bottom of the stack is quite similar!

Gee, I can't say that I ever owned a party dress in my childhood. (that would have been strange for me as a guy!) I think my favorite party dress was the one my aunt wore one New Years eve. She wore a shimmery black dress with big sparkly earrings, I thought she was a movie star. She ASKED me to dance with her even though I was only 4 or 5. I felt very special that new year's eve.

Ooh – I HATED dresses as a little girl. I fought, and fought, and fought to not have to wear them, so I don't really remember an actual party dress, until my first Prom. It was a long dress (white satin skirt, black velvet or bodice) and it fit wonderfully. I felt like Audrey Hepburn for the evening (even though I HATED my hair style…way too much hairspray and too many pins!). I think I still have that dress in my closet, just as fresh as when it came home from the dry cleaners.
My favorite party dress was a maroon velvet off the shoulder puffy skirt with gold sequins on the chest dress. Sounds horrible to describe it now, but I really thought I was something when I wore that dress as a child.
Mine was a white dress with a ribbon trim around the bottom hem… three different ribbons in perfect 80's shades of hot pink, teal green, and grape purple. Always worn with my favourite pink jelly shoes. Yikes!

My favourite dress was one passed down to me from my sister. It was a stiffish white cotton with a fitted bodice and A Line skirt. It had different width bands of dark blue along the bottom of the skirt; I think they were sewn onto the skirt rather than printed onto the material. I couldn't wait for her to grow out of it. Mum always bought us the loveliest dresses when we were little but I think I always loved hers more than mine!

we had these beautiful pale blue organdy dresses with hand cutout embroidery flowers on the bodice . they had little collars, short puffy sleeves and a tie in the back. i can't remember wearing them but , my mom kept them for ever and we used to unpack her cedar chest to look at them.
I was much more of a tomboy as a kid, but I remember my favorite dress in first grade was navy blue with red, green, white and yellow smocking across the chest. I thought it was really pretty, and wore it to pieces!

I had a white easter dress that I wore CONSTANTLY for a while when I was a kid. I had a hat that went with it, too (I think it was a white hat with purple flowers around the brim). The really funny thing was that "dress and hat" phase overlapped partially with "black rubber boot phase"

When I was about 8, I had this sleeveless white dress that was covered with mini polka dots and it had a high collar with a ribbon trim that tied in a big bow at the neck. Then it had this little red coat that went with it. The coat was double breasted so that just the ribbon at the neckline showed above the coat and the skirt showed below. I thought that dress was PERFECT and wore it every chance I got. Then my sister did too! We LOVED it!

I have to admit that I hated "party" dresses unless they were made of cotton – anything else was too "itchy"! So I don't remember having a favorite because my aunt would always buy me "itchy" dresses and my mom would make me wear them to make my aunt happy! Love this "Party Dress" fabric though
I actually do not remember what the dress looked like. I only remember how it felt and smelled. It needed to be starched so it always felt a little stiff when I put it on and of course it had the spray starch kind of smell which I always thougth smelled fresh and new. Sort of like starting a new spring day!
Oh… I remember my first ever party dress very welll… It was a long (floor length) dress in a wonderful beige color… It was made from my mom's old silk saree… I was so happy to see myself in it… I have even kept the photograph of me wearing it… Actually my mom absolutely loved that saree (she told me this when i grew up) but finances were tough to buy a new dress… So she got a friend of hers from the office to make it for me… while she took lunch for her for a month!!! That was what made it really special… I had kept it for a long time (untill my marriage) but then i gave it away to one of the girls from the orphanage here… I saw her eyes sparkle when she saw the dress… i could not resist myself from giving it to her…
My mom made me a dress with matching coat for Easter one year. I felt so wonderful in it! But the best part was the muffler she made to match. One dress my mom had me wear was a red velvet dress with white lace fringe and some embroidered flowers. Then I had some nice white tights. Got in trouble that day because I decided to climb a tree with some other kids from the party and tore my tights in the knees. Yay for tom boys lol.

My favourite dress was a green organdy that my mom would dress me in to go to the Sunday concerts. One time I ran away and that was the only thing I took. I was about six and I hid under bed for hours till my mom found me.
I think it's hilarious that A, whose post is the one I see above my comment box, said that her favorite was a pink flower girl dress that belonged to her cousin. When I was 4, my grandmother made me a pink flower girl dress, which eventually got sent to my cousins for dress-up. I LOVED that dress and am so angry that it wound up being sent to Goodwill. my sister and I had matching princess dresses. they were black with shiny turquoise stripes, a velvet sash, and a big white collar with embroidery and tiny gemstones. we LOVED them!
I was as girly girl as they come with 4 brothers. My favorite dress was a beautiful pink dress with a tulle underlayer to make it flounce wonderfully and twirl like any girl's dream. A bow around the waist and a sweet color were other darling aspects. I LOVED that dress.
I wasn't much of a dress wearer, but, my mom made me a dress from green dotted swiss with a white dotted swiss pinafore. I wore it for my first grade school picture-with pin curls:)
My mom sewed me this purple dress and it had coordinating ribbons sewing horizontally on the bodice… I loved that dress. I remember wearing it to school (kindergarten) and it flying up over my head as I was swinging. OOPS….

I was a tomboy and coming from a little town with many outdoor parties pants were more appropriate. But I do wish I could fit in my wedding dress again…aaahh dreams.
Hmmm…party dress, none come to mind exactly. For the longest time I was not a dress kind of girl. Much preferred a pair of jeans and a tee. Things have changed a bit now–you will find me in a dress but as a kid, nothing frilly for me please. =) Thanks so much for such a great giveaway!
My favorit echildhood dress was actually a dance recital costume. It was icy pink with tiny white bows printed on the organza. There were yards of gathers in the skirt and a crispy crinoline underskirt. My mother hated it and thought it was gaudy so I would show up to get in the family station wagon when it was too late to send me back for a more tailored and, in her view, tasteful ensemble.
My mum made all my party dresses or I got my sister's hand-me-downs. My favourite was a really pretty pink one with red rosebuds, sleeves edged in velvet ribbon and lace. Sounds gross? Suz

My grandmother gave my sister and I matching dresses. Hers was green velvet, mine was purple velvet, and they had lace collars. I remember finally being allowed to wear it for the family portrait session.
My favorite dress was a smocked blue gingham with apples that were smocked across the yoke. I loved that one of the apples had a worm coming out of it!
