Tacha, Katy, and I are just back from Quilt Market in Houston and have been catching up, tending to our families, and trying to take a few deep breaths and catch a few winks of sleep! We’ll be back with a proper blog post soon all about our adventures at market, but today wanted to feature one of our favorite new lines (and one of our very favorite people), Terrain by Kate Spain for Moda. Kate’s new line is vibrant, colorful, and makes people happy … all of which can be said about Kate as well!
We also love our new Terrain masthead, designed by Kate herself. RSS and Google Reader readers, click on over and take a look!
We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite new projects that feature Terrain and demonstrate its flexibility in working beautifully across a wide range of items — from quilts to purses to pincushions! (Speaking of flexibility, I’ve been using Terrain to make my Farmer’s Wife blocks, and continue to be amazed at how many other fabrics and fabric lines perfectly complement and coordinate with Terrain. It’s almost magical!)
Throughout our tour, we’ll tell you 5 things about Kate that you probably didn’t know. And, the always awesome and generous Kate has even offered up a fun little Terrain giveaway — stick around until the end of the post for more information about that.
But first, let’s take a tour through across Kate’s terrific Terrain!

Kate: “On more than one occasion, I’ve mentioned that hot dogs are my guilty pleasure. If they were good for you, i’d eat one a day! Otherwise, i’d have to say cashews. Or chocolate chip cookies. Or just the chips. By the handful.”

Made by Samelia’s Mum

Made by Monica Solorio-Snow (Happy Zombie)
Kate: “The first thing i ever sewed by hand that i can remember was a felt watermelon slice, complete with glued on pits. I was in 5th grade. The most embarrassing thing i ever sewed and wore in public was my prom dress when i was a senior in high school. It actually fit as long as i didn’t take a deep breath or try to sit down. Ok so maybe i watched a few too many John Hughes movies!”

Made by Marieke (Annuin)
Kate: “Try not to get too jealous, but in 2004, I got to meet Yuko Shimizu in person. She is the Japanese designer who created Hello Kitty! Did you know Hello Kitty is a girl, not a cat? And she is from the suburbs of London!”

Made by Emma (emma_louise)

Kate: “I think practicing random acts of kindness should be mandatory. If you’ve never paid the toll for the car behind you, I highly suggest trying it. Or bringing a neighbor a freshly baked goodie. Here’s a fun little anecdote on this topic. A while back, Pete and i lived in New York City. I don’t know how we came up with this, but one day during the summer, we took all the jewelry i never wore into Central Park and hung necklaces on tree limbs within reach of passersby, and left rings on park benches and bracelets on swings. We put one small black velvet jewelry box (with earrings in it) on the low wall surrounding Bethesda Fountain, then sat nearby to watch a woman discover it. On our way back to our apartment, we noticed that two of the necklaces had disappeared! It was a fun way to let old, unwanted stuff find a new home.”

Made by Sadie (sleepback)
Kate: “I can speak enough French to order a ham and cheese sandwich, coffee, or metro tickets.”

Inspired by all of these amazing Terrain creations? Well, you can win a small stash of Terrain all for yourself! Kate has graciously offered to send one lucky winner 5 mini charm packs of Terrain. Simply leave a comment on this post and tell us what’s on your Christmas list this year. (We’re hoping that Santa brings us a little bit of Good Fortune, Kate’s upcoming line for Moda!) We’ll randomly select one winner late next week.
Good luck!
Christmas list includes funding toward the FMF re-release and some Ruby Star typewriters and clocks – love love love Terrain xxx
For Christmas I would like snow, cosy fires and family! Plus of course a bundle of scrumptious new fabric.
I’d love a week’s quilting retreat for xmas but thats not likely to happen so given my family think the names of these things are a hoot Im dropping hints for a selection of charm packs, jelly rolls, fat quarters, fat eights. Hopefully that will include some Terrain? hint hint
I want Santa to bring me a Christmas without the family drama
to make it extra special he could bring a voucher for Fabricworm or Hawthorn Threads (Wishing really hard on a star here!)
Christmas has come early for me, I had on my list a Sizzix cutter or Accuquilt GO…. I found out last week I have won a Accuquilt Go Baby Yay so now I can put fabric on my list, I really like Good Fortune. Thanks for the chance to win. Linda
What would I love for Christmas? How about some mini charm packs of Terrain by Kate Spain? I would also like some quality time with my family where none of us is ill (we all had the flu for the last two Christmasses).
Oh, and world peace!
On my christmas list there is a little trip to Thailand or New York. And if nobody wants to give that to me, some nice fabrics will do, too!
I wish to have a precious time with family and be able to share with all around us God’s love.
On my Christmas list this year is some down time from work and school, and just chilling with my family.
Love terrain!
On my xmas list … to watch my niece opening her presents!
My list would be a Chanukah list. All of the Terrain creations are just beautiful. My wish is to be able to find more time in the day for quilting!
Gorgeous! Some serious inspiration, too. For Christmas I MUST finish my son’s quilt.
Hoping Santa can bring my little boy most of the things he wants for Christmas, and for Mommy? I would like a 60 degree triangle by CG
Great colours. I love looking at what other people make. I would like Sint Nicolaas to bring a table for the spare room, so that the lovely sewing machine can move out of the dinning room.
I’d love Santa to send me some pre release Nightshade by Tula pink or Reunion by Sweetwater.
Winter is coming — and I hope I get an automatic starter for my car to help me through it!
One of my Christmas wishes is probably coming true, we’re going to spend some time with my family in Germany. As for other wishes, a fabric shop gift card or magazine subscription are on that, also I wish the second series of Sherlock would come out early!!
My Christmas list is short and sweet….. having my family home and enjoying every minute of it. Terrain- the colors are fabulous and the patterns delightful!
For Christmas I would love any cute little mini charm pack! I’m getting obsessed with them, and really really want one!
I’m hoping Santa brings me a gift card to my LQS so I can get some of the happy colorful Kate Spain Terrain!! Thanks for the giveaway. Mary
Can Santa just bring me more time to finish all the projects I’ve already got in the works? Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m not just saying this because of the giveaway but I genuinely want a Jelly Roll of Terrain for Christmas!
I don’t have a list as yet. But it will have quilting, stitching and knitting stuff on it. I just need to decide which ones!
The new kindle fire is on my Christmas list since my hubby won’t buy me fabric- he says I have too much already!
Thanks so much for the chance at the giveaway! I’m just praying everyone will be healthy and happy and that we will all get to be together to celebrate the holiday.
I just love Terrain! I used up my jelly roll of it over the last weekend (and posted it on my blog). In case anyone wants to know, Kona Cool Mint matches the line very nicely.
Mary

For Christmas this year I would love some spare time to play with my fabric, an Accuquilt Go! would help with my play time. Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous fabric!
What a fabulous line – Congratulations to Kate Spain!
On my Christmas list this year is a Kindle!
I would love the family to pick out different fabrics or even a gift voucher would be great oh and not too hot Christmas day
What an awesomely colourful post!
I would love a second pair of hands to replace mine when they get tired from stitching…please santa!
Tops on my holiday list is a sewing machine and lots and lots of fabric. Terrain is incredible and I would love to win.
I love Kate Spain’s fabrics. All of them. The colors and patterns are just… Wow! I don’t really count on much for myself for Christmas, but I’ve already bought my daughter (she’s about to turn 11) her first sewing machine for Christmas. But keep that quiet. She doesn’t know!
Terrain is at the top of my Christmas list, along with other misc things I want or need, and some books too.
First on my list is spending time with my family. Then there’s always fabric precuts (including Terrain!), quilting books, and a new iron for my sewing space!
A `small` camera has been in the list for a very LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time
Thanks for the sweet giveaway – I love Terrain!!!
Wow! What a cool line!
On the xmas list – fabric of course!
Frankly, I get all worked up about my list of things to make/buy/give others and don’t even think about what I want in return. But I think that it might include some fat quarter bundles, of some fabric lines like Going Coastal, Happy Mochi Yum Yum, and Terrain … and maybe a collection of Mary Ellen’s Best Press spray starches in various scents. I guess you know you’re a quilter when you ask for this instead of perfume or bubble bath?
Thanks for the chance to win!
There are a few things on my list, including boots and some fabric, but a subscription to Fat Quarterly is actually one of the things at the top of my list! Thanks!
P.S. I love the paper-pieced diamonds! I’m totally inspired.
If Santa brought me a Janome Horizon, I would faint. Since he’s not likely to do that, I’ll settle for some new speakers for my computer. I “watch” TV online or movies while I sew.
I love the story about the jewelry. She has inspired me to do RAK too. Thanks so much for a great post…it was a fun way to learn more about her.
Our girl is coming for a visit from the UK so all I want is her, son and hubby hanging on the couch watching a good movie with a warm pot of soup on the stovetop and cookies fresh from the oven!:)
Some art books, some fabric (love these), and some dark chocolate!
Love your NYC Jewelry anecdote – what a fun thing to do! My Christmas list is basically a long list of fabric stores I want gift cards to!!
It may cost a small fortune, but a girl can dream!
Hmmm…that’s a hard one…I have been so spoiled this year. But my perfect gift would be a vacation between Christmas and New Years with my Hubs and kids.
What with moving, I don’t have much time or mental space or energy for Christmas lists. Guess I’d like a good sewing space in the new house….and a new sewing machine with lots of throat space!
For when I’m not quilting, Santa please, please bring me new Blizzard skis!
Of course Terrain is on my Christmas list for this year!
Well since we had to replace a heat pump in our house this year, my Christmas list is pretty slim, actually empty at the moment. But an inexpensive little bundle of fabric would make me happier than diamonds!
Thanks for the chance at that beautiful Terrian!
Lovely creations, all of them. Besides good health for all and quality time with my family, I would like some Good Fortune, Strawberry Fields, and a couple large stainless cookie sheets. Thank you.
Hmm. Terrain would be a good start! I think the best present actually would be time (without little ones) to organize my sewing room!
I’m secretly hoping that Santa brings me a Le Creuset french oven!
I’m hoping to have my house back in order and all the workers gone after having a house fire on Sept 14th.. I would love a quiet boring life right now. To know where things are and just be. To sit at my sewing machine and disappear into my project. Some fun fabric to do that would be lovely.
Thanks.
Well, I always have fabric on my Christmas list and after reading this post, “Terrain” has jumped right in there! Rotary blades and a new mat are also on my list. I’d love to win this give-away. Thanks for the opportunity.
Lots of fabric is on my Christmas list, and I actually have fat quarters of Terrain listed. I love fat quarter collections, and I love the versatile Terrain!
Mmm… On my Christmas list, there isn’t much at the moment. But I’d love for some quiet time with my husband and some, just spent watching some old movies.
I’m hoping to get some craft books!
Shucks, you made me drool all over my keyboard – again. My ideal Christmas gift would be time; maybe 4 hours one Saturday per month, guaranteed no interruptions? OK, stop laughing; failing that I’d love to get lots and lots of quilting thread. New fabric is wonderful but ya gotta have thread to play with it!
Fabric is definitely on my list, and a little Good Fortune would be perfect! LOVE Terrain!
hmm…definitely money for fabric! but mostly lots of love and quality time spent with family.
I just bought a bit of this fabric yesterday- I love the colors and design. My main Christmas wish is for my son-in-law to be safe as he joins the Air Force.
For Christmas this year I’d like to go somewhere fun with my family, and to give some money to Heifer.org. I also want a new coat. I love the purples in terrain!
I would love an improv workshop with Denyse Schmidt. I totally have a “quilt crush” on her. I don’t think it will happen so I think I will ask for her new book coming out in the Spring and some newly released (2012) flea market fancy. I also like to spend time giving back to our community. It’s very important to us fo focus on things outside our home for others in need.
Dianne
Oh my goodness, too many fabrics are on my list!
I am hoping that Santa brings me a Go Baby
I’ve got the Go Baby on my list- and some Terrain now too!
I would love to get a gift certificate for a massage from Santa.
Thanks for the chance to win.
I think I’d have to say a new Babylock serger is on my christmas wish list, but a Go baby would be fun to find under the tree too.
I am hoping for a healthy Christmas spent with my family. I also have the Go Baby on my list, with a couple of dies and GCs to fabric stores.
On my wishlist for Christmas?
As ever: a stress free Christmas!
O, presents you mean; to me Christmas is all about the birth of Christ.
Hope for everyone!
We celebrate Sinterklaas, whose birthday is on the 5th of December.
Presents are accompanied with poems. As long as they rhyme, we’re all happy. But it’s also for a laugh, so if you want to play a joke on someone: THAT is the time.
(in a nice way, ofcourse)
I am hoping for an Accuquilt GO for a nice Christmas gift…..have to pass this idea along to the family! Those were some great projects with Terrain….lovely!
Well despite my age (adult), I really want the new book out, called Harry Potter from Page to Screen! And some fabric
My Christmas list is simple. I want to spend it with my husband who is working 7 hrs. away in west Texas. I don’t really care what we do or give each other so long as we can be together.
Love this fabric line, Kate!
I wish Santa would bring me a fat quarter bundle of Terrain!
My big Christmas wish for myself is to get a Sew Steady table for my machine. I quilt a lot of large quilts on my little Janome and that table would really save my shoulders during a marathon quilting session. Of course, we could all use a little Good Fortune.
My Christmas list includes some Terrain for sure, I have one charm pack and that is it! I also would like some of the new Sweetwater, Reunion. I got some Hometown, but need Reunion too. Thanks for the chance to win!
Always thankful for a little fabric.. Especially some Kate Spain! Most especially being surrounded by our kidlets and hopefully little nieces too
I’m hoping for a new tea pot. Tea goes so nicely with sewing!
I hope santa brings me a new desktop scanner, a neat basket from pottery barn and lots of fabric!
Just to spend lots of time with my daughter!
Well, what I want for Christmas is too big to put on our lists here but I’m going to wish upon wish for it anyway … a new sewing machine … something that can be used for quilting anyway. Maybe it could sew some terrain!!
As a matter of fact, more Terrain is on my Christmas list! I’m making new quilts for my daughters, and this line is so lovely that it just has to be part of them. Thanks for the chance!
I’d love a fabric gift certificate this year, or a bolt of fusible fleece or batting
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
This Christmas, I have the same heart-felt desire as always: that the whole family can get together and enjoy themselves and make more wonderful memories – and above all – that Jesus is celebrated! It’s his day, after all. (PS: I really like Terrain! I like the leaf patterns especially.)
That fabric is so cute. I’m beside myself.
haha, christmas. What I really want is a new camera. I have one that I got 6 years ago that sometimes takes picture, assuming it turns on. I’ve been doing without but, honestly it would be helpful. (I’m just now transferring this over from my “nice luxury” list to “luxurious but helpful non-necessity” list)
My Christmas list includes spending time with my family, a GO! cutter and perhaps a small bundle of Terrain to make some hexagons.
A larger gel mat for my kitchen. Those things are awesome to stand on! That’s about it. My birthday is 5 days after so….
I’m hoping for a couple more Accufeed feet for my sewing machine!
All I wish for Christmas this year is my son, currently in Afghanistan, will be home for Christmas.
My Christmas wish includes spending time with my family and for my dh to find a job in this awful economy.
I’m really starting to fall hard for terrain. This one was a sleeper for me, but now I’m loving it.
What am I asking for for Christmas? Lots of books! And more readers on my blog.
Pimp, pimp:
Pinsandbobbins.blogspot.com !!!
xox,
Chelsea
My Christmas list includes finding the correct gifts for my children since we did a horrible job predicting what they wanted last year. I just want fabric gift certificates, so I can make quilts to give back to the fam! I have my fingers crossed on that one.
)
I LOVE this post – thanks for rounding up and featuring all these Terrain projects! I know it’s not sexy, but I have lots of solid yardage and cones of thread on my wishlist. It seems like I’m always getting to the end of my Kona Snow stash.
my christmas list this year totally includes good fortune – and a major restock of my dwindling thread supply!
My Christmas list this year is for a new kitchen trash can…is that sad? The foot pedal to our current one broke!
Great post. My Christmas wish list is short, good health for everyone I know.
I LOVE Terrain! I bought some of the two sided quilted fabric to make a duffle bag! Can’t wait to get that project started. I want the new iPhone 4s for Christmas to replace both my phone AND my camera but I’m probably dreaming
We’re moving to the west coast, so I’m asking for nice rain boots. I love the fabric, some of the projects above are great!
So wonderful to see all the things people have done with Terrain! On my Christmas wish list is a sewing machine (or a bobbin winder as mine doesn’t work for some reason) and I’d LOVE some Terrain.
I got my Christmas gift early – a NEW sewing machine so I can make all the things I have planned for my little ones and family.
One thing I am making for my daughter is a doll quilt from Terrain, true story! I’m even going to do a pillow and sheets out of it for a new doll bed we got her for Christmas. I Love Kate!
Terrain is one of my favorite lines ever. I’m asking for a fat eighth bundle (I’ve already made a skirt from a Terrain layer cake) – hoping to get some Good Fortune after Christmas
Lets see now – I have five children with five spouses who have eight children between them so that is eighteen plus the hub who makes nineteen people (plus my three dogs and one cat) who all will receive visits from Santa. When all of that is taken care of I can start to think of me. Books, stacks and stacks of David Baldacci thrillers – enough to last me through the winter, please Santa. And the lovely Terrain fabrics, of course.
My Christmas list always includes the latest fabrics from my favorite designers and, of course, Terrain would top that list!
i’m hoping for a sewing machine this year!
I’d love to have a fabric/FQ club for Christmas – a fun surprise every month!
Oh my gosh Terrain is actually on my Christmas list! So funny that you would ask that for a Terrain giveaway! Terrain fabric and some Christmas fabric to make a tree skirt are on my list for this year though
I would love to be with my husband this xmas. I moved across the country for a job and he is still trying to get one out here with me! I would also love any fabric or GO! Baby dies:D
Beautiful! On my list is lots of fabric!!!
I would love to get some more dies for my GO! Baby too. It says something cool that we have the items on our lists in common!
Starting now, charm packs of Terrain are on my list!
I would love a new transmission for my Jeep, but I don’t think it would fit in Santa’s sleigh, and I’m not sure his elves would be able to install it. So I’d settle for more fabric. This Terrain would be a good start! It’s beautiful!
I’m so blessed, all I need is time with my family and time to sew. Kathie L in Allentown
I’d definitely have to say that some Good Fortune is on my wish list – but also just lovely time with my family for the holidays!! Thanks for the chance at this giveaway!!
The only thing on my Christmas list this year is a new sewing machine. Just the thing to whip up a new project with Terrain!
I would love for my family to be healthy, happy and full of joy this Christmas. It’s been a stressful year and we all need to regroup and rejoyce!
As far as material gifts….I would love some of the new quilt books featuring modern quilts. I’m a book junkie. Plus some Terrain! Thanks for the chance to win.
My Christmas wishlist contains one deeply desired item: a bias tape maker! I am also happy to have this surrounded with any number of gift cards so that I can buy all the pretty fabrics I have bookmarked at the moment (one of which is Terrain, or anything Kate Spain, really.)
I´d love to get a kindle for christmas (or maybe for my birthday next week?!?). And a new teapot!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m hoping for a new sewing table. Mine is falling apart. I’d love one that allows my machine to sit in, level with the top of the table and has an expandable back for easier machine quilting.
I would love to have my family together with a kitty on each of our laps. 4 for 4! A fabric gift card would be awesome, and of course, time to sew!
I’m asking Santa to service my sewing machine. My stocking can be filled with thread, my favorite fusible and a new pair of nippers.
This year I want a class. Not only to keep learning, but it’s guaranteed time for me!
I am asking for Santa to take my first double bed-sized quilt to a long arm quilter for me!
Dear Santa – please bring me many peaceful joyful moments with family, LOTS of laughs and TONS of good food (with no added pounds, please Santa) this holiday season. Also, if you could pretty please provide some TIME to SEW, it would be greatly appreciated… especially if I get to sew a little Terrain… that I … perhaps… win??
I’ve asked for a new iron!
I asked for gift cards for my two favorite hobbies -sewing and cooking.
well since my bday is November 5th i asked santa for a combined present of a new sewing machine. And i would adore some new fabric too!
Hoping Santa will allow me a bit of down time to sew till my little heart is content!
I’m due in December so I pray for a happy baby that will be sleeping a lot by Christmas
My oldest just got engaged and for Christmas I’d like one last family vacation- just the five of us.

On my Christmas list? A relaxing time with friends after a very frantic and unpleasant year … and a little sewing time
Love Kate Spain’s lines! My Christmas list is pretty small this year. Just a few DVDs, some mixing bowls and a few charm packs. I can’t wait to spend time with my family, hopefully with snow on the ground.
For Christmas, I’d like to pass my registry exam with flying colors!
On my x-mas list is ALWAYS Kate Spain, Fig Tree, or Thimble Blossoms fabric
Also, quilting books, novels, and anything handmade by anybody
~welchrobin@Hotmail.com
Beautiful fabric! This year I’m hoping Santa brings me some new kitchen gadgets.
I’d like my quilting shed to be my Christmas present…………..hasn’t happened yet so maybe Santa can help out………….the metal floor framing doesn’t do the job yet………
In a dream world, Santa would bring me a fabulous new (working!) sewing machine! But what I really want is for him to pay some elves to come and give the house a good scrub before the holidays. I had surgery on my wrist recently and while my hubby is doing his best, a lot of the household cleanliness upkeep is falling hopelessly behind!
I’ve just started really getting into quilting and working with gorgeous cottons, and I’ve got some quilt books on my list. My bigger list, however, are all the sewing projects I want to complete as gifts for those I love this Christmas.
A selection of Kona solids, and a 5.5 in die for my Go baby.
For me it is Chanukah…and hopefully it will be a family filled holiday. That would be the best gift of all. Love the fabrics!
For Christmas I hope I get some down time so I can finish my first quilt!
What would I like for Christmas? I’m really hoping for EQ 7. I know I’m a little behind the times on that one, but I just think it would be so much fun to plan my own quilts. Thanks for offering the giveaway!
I’m hoping for quilt shop gift certificates. Love the give away!
I love Terrain. It is my favorite line of fabric so far. I am hoping for a GoBaby.
I don’t really want anything for Christmas. I’m just happy to be able to take off work for a couple of days and spend them with my boys (and sewing of course).
I’m with Rene’, I don’t want anything for Christmas, except time to sit and sew.
Top of my Christmas list is EQ7 but I’d happily settle for some Terrain!
I don’t really want anything for Christmas. However… if Santa wanted to deliver a really awesome present, he could give me a trip to Sewing Summit next year
All I want for Christmas is my baby girl (I am 38 weeks pregnant), but some more terrain will be lovely as well
for Christmas I would just like a gift card to my favorite quilt shop.
I can’t believe it is Nov. already. thanks for the giveaway. Those are some great projects made with beautiful fabrics.
For Christmas I hope that my sister-in-law Debbie’s chemo will be finished and that she will not have to have radiation treatments for breast cancer.
I’d like a Wii! Thanks for the giveaway!
For Christmas I would like a day at home by myself in a clean and tidy house with my sewing machine and fabric stash.
Oh yay! Mini charm packs! I still haven’t seen one of these in person, and I’m dying to get my hands on some.
There are really only 2 things on my Christmas list: Fabric & Books. Sewing and reading – my two favorite pastimes.
Thanks for the giveaway!
All I want for Christmas is for my boy to get better….he is struggling with life right now….
that and a pair of Uggs would be nice…my feet are always cold!
I have no wants really for Christmas – just that our family would have a heart for others during this time of the year!
For Christmas, any Kate Spain, Philip Jacobs or Erin McMorris quilting fabric!
Thanks for the giveaway.
For Christmas I would love the gift of time so I could get making all the projects I have dreamt up in my head.
HOORAY… mini charm packs… thanks for the giveaway offer.
For christmas I’d like to watch my twins open their pressies on christmas morning…. that & some new quilting books
I haven’t thought about it much yet, but anything quilting-related is always welcome.
What a great collection of Terrain projects – it really does show off the versatility of Kate’s collections! For Christmas this year, I’m looking forward to a great time with our family in France – we don’t often get there for Christmas, so that will be enough of a gift for me
Isn’t it wonderful how quilters tend not to want things for themselves – except maybe some lovely new fabric and more time to play with it! That would do me nicely ….along with health and happiness forays world peace for everyone.
Moda fabric is like chocolate-it’s addictive. We’ve just moved so I hope to get me sewing room unpacked and organized. My wish list is practical-a new couch for us and we’ll be adopting a “senior” for the holiday season.
More fabrics of course
I keep seeing so many gorgeous Terrain quilts in blogland – I’d love to get my hands on some – maybe Santa will come up trumps!
fabric. and time to use it
Santa has already given me my best wish – my son and daughter in law and my 9 month old Granddaughter are flying in to have Christmas with us!
)) Who needs anything else? (Of course, fabric won’t be refused if it happens to show up on the big day. lol)
I would like a new pair of sunglasses! And a new wardrobe! I am doing okay for fabric at the moment, oddly!
However, I may have to ask for some of this from Santa.
I hope Santa brings me a few Accuquilt Go die sets.
What beautiful images! And love the new header! For Christmas? Some quality family time, and some time off of work!
I’d like a birdbath for Christmas this year … but such pretty fabric would make a great substitute!
I don’t make a chrismas list anymore, but appreciate this fun post and giveaway, very much!!
On my Christmas list this year is a quilt retreat, because it’s so hard to find enough time to finish a quilt at home. So many quilts, so little time!
My holiday list includes a power-washer (!) I borrowed one recently to work on the brick patio and it was so much fun — I was covered in mud and felt like a kid when I got done! Love the fabric…
My wish list includes gift certificates to buy fabric of course! Thanks for the giveaway.
I’D LIKE SANTA TO BRING ME SOME CHARM PACKS!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
I would love a new camera for Christmas.
a new Bernina 550….
I am in love with Terrain! And I want a MacBook Pro for Christmas. hehehe
Terrain is my favorite of all. LOVE IT! But that will be a short lived spot for Terrain on my favorites list. I’ve seen Good Fortune and that will be knocking Terrain down one little step I’m afraid. But, Kate’s fabrics are always at the top of my list so it’s all good right?!
On my Christmas list since my entire family has had some bad luck this past year, the biggest wish on my Christmas list isn’t for material things. One of my twins and his fiancee are expecting our next Grandchild, a girl in early Feb and my biggest wish is that she is doing well. She’s had three potentially bad medical problems show up in this, her first pregnancy and her health as well as that baby’s health are being monitored very closely by a team of doctors. My biggest wish is for that baby and her to still be doing well at Christmas. I’ve been extremely worried about her and will probably continue to do so until that little one is born and then until all tests come back with good news after that baby is born as well. We already know she may have to have surgery in the next few weeks and if they decide against that now, she must have it as soon as possible after the baby is born.
I would love to just have my husband at home for Christmas… as it is our first Christmas as a married couple
Don’t need anything else! (maybe some Terrain? hehe
Kidding… kind of!
)
On my Christmas Wish List:
A set of Kate’s Delilah dishes from Crate and Barrel! In Red! I love them!
I think that I might ask either Santa or my hubby for a Go-Baby this year! and this fabric would go perfectly!
A new sewing machine is on my wish list. On my reality list however is gift cards to my favorite stores.
Do you know what? i haven’t even thought about MY list! I’m sure I’ll have some fabric on there though, and Kate Spain’s new line would be perfect.
Actually, I don’t do Christmas! But my family does make a habit of gifting to each other and to those in need, whether emotionally or physically. I try to gift to at least one person at least once a week. My children do the same thing, either a physical gift or a gift of time. I think more than 80% of my done items are gifts for others. This week’s quilty gift is for a young friend of my daughter whose mother was just diagnosed with cancer. She needs a hug from me. Her mother is next on my list.
Kate’s line is so beautiful. I see it made up as quilty hugs for friends who lose their mates. Yes, I am getting to that age group! Sofa quilts remind them that they are thought of and loved.
We need to take care of one another!
Cathy B
I would love to have the day off work to spend Christmas with my family. I would also like a gift certificate to my local fabric shop.
I want a new handbag for Christmas! I am eying the new Orla Kiely bluebird print…. Hope my husband is reading this, LOL! Of course, fabric is always welcome in this house as well!
Id love to win. For christmas, on my list will be some books.
Everytime I see Terrain my heart goes a flutter! What happy colors and designs. for Christmas…maybe a new winter coat…
Christmas already came this year, at least as far as a gift from my husband goes! My new Brother Innovis 800 is sitting in the basement/quilt studio! But I look forward to celebrate with family! This is our first totally empty nest Christmas, so it will be a blessing to have the family here for the holiday.
i love Terrain, the colors are great- this collection is one of my recent faves. I havent thought about my christmas list yet…. a serger would be fantastic!
I’ve been waiting for a long time to replace my laptop so I think that will be my present this year. However, I am also looking for a lightweight sewing machine I can take out and about to classes and my quilt group. And….I would be delighted if a fat quarter pack of Terrain found itself under the tree!
Happy day spent with my family!
What a lovely post! I have a new camera lens on my wish list, but am really just looking forward to watching my kids
I’d be happy with any Kate Spain fabric from Santa. Terrain is my favorite – but it looks like Good Fortune will be just as good! Thanks for the giveaway!
On my list – new 9″ round cake pans and a fat cat ruler as of right now.
I’m inspired! This looks like a great collection! Certainly wouldnt mind finding some of this in my stocking! Really hoping for a new machine, though!
I would like good enough weather to be able to visit family & friends in the Wyoming Rockies. And some new fabrics & yarn would be nice too!
on my wish list? along with some quilting books, I’d love some Flurry… and after seeing all the inspiring projects made using Terrain, I will be adding that to my wish list.
Thanks for the lovely giveaway!
Lovely! Hmmm, what IS on my list this year?? I’m working on an iPad app so if it’s finished by then I think I’ll have everything I wanted!
I have on my list a new sewing machine.
Love Terrain!
my wish lists includes some good fortune, some echo, and hopefully some surprise fabric goodies (my hubbie has awesome taste in fabric)
When I was in grade school, my mother bought me a great red leather school bag. I cried. Well, this year I found a similar red leather satchel at Cambridge Leather. I bought one for my daughter (I hope she doesn’t cry – she shouldn’t as she’s at university) and hoping for a red one myself.
My other Christmas wish? That the winter-themed quilts I made/making for my nephews and nieces arrive on time.
Would love some terrain. Great line of fabric. Cheers!
For Christmas, I’d like time and gumption, to do the things I’ve been wanting to do and to dare to try something new.
Hello – I see my blocks up there. I love this range of fabric. I’ve used it in my quilting bee and am eagerly awaiting for my blocks to return.
For Christmas, I’d love an Alice (remember the Brady Bunch?). Someone to come and clean the house, cook meals and give sound advice to my children… so that I’d have more sewing time. Is that too awful?
I love everything Kate Spain does!! Awesome quilts posted above.
I’ve been a good grandma this year, maybe a gift card from my LQS?
hehe. Also a quick and safe return of our military men and women.
Thank you for the gjveaway and a chance to win.

Christmas list is to get those things finished that need to be finished before Christmas not 2 years later. Fabric is always on my wishlist and a Brindabella Quilting frame from the girls in Canberra Australia
As far as I am concerned, Kate Spain can do no wrong! She seems to be as friendly and happy a person one could hope for. And Terrain is no exception.
My list is getting smaller every year. I have everything I could possibly want, so I usually tell my family to make a donation in my name to a few special charities. One is Children’s Surgery International base here in MN. They do facial reconstruction on children worldwide who can’t afford it. My late daughter was born with a cleft lip and palate, so I know what a difference the repair can do for someone.
For Christmas…..hmmm…..fabric is always good. Piece of mind and health would be nice.
I’m asking my sweetheart to have a piece of needlework from my mother put into a lovely frame. I know that will make me happy every day, always.
My Christmas list starts with a lot of fabrics and ends with a new sewing machine. Do I ask too much?
As my son’s know, anything fabric or quilting related is a fair bet! Thanks for the chance to win.
A new mattress! I’m thinking either a Temper Pedic or a Sleep Number. Can you stand the excitement?
My Christmas list this year is for a gift certificate to spend at my favorite quilt shop! I just love the Supernova quilt that Carlene made. Wow! Thanks for giving us a chance to win!
I don’t really know yet, but fabric is always welcome and terrain would be at the top of that list.
the number one thing one my Christmas list is some quiet time. After all the holiday craziness a few hours to sit and sew, maybe read a little – it sounds so good right now!!!!
If money were no object, I’d ask for a long-arm, or maybe even a new domestic sewing machine. But since that won’t happen, I’d like to get a gift certificate for a quilt retreat – uninterrupted time to create!
My Christmas list includes both my children who live 700 miles away (in opposite directions , of course) coming home!
Thanks for the Terrain give away!
Lots and lots of snow! Hopefully, I will be snowbound with all of that snow and will be able to quilt to my hearts content!!
I just love spending time with family at Christmas. I dont really have a Christmas list cause I have what I need to sew, quilt, etc and I am warm. So my Christmas wish is for those less fortunate than me will have a nice Christmas and stay warm. I love Kate Spain’s fabrics and would love to win them.
Any, any, any Kate Spain fabrics would be on my list this year. The biggest wish I have right now though is to actually finish all the quilted gifts I have planned for everyone. Wish me luck! Thanks for the Terrain give away!
I would like for All of my boys to be able to get the time off so that we can all be together.
I’ve always been one that would rather give than to receive and never have had a wish list. But what I would love to have this year is an Accuquilt GO and for my husband to not be a Scrooge throughout the season.
I love the colors and designs of Terrain and would love to win some. Thank you and Kate for the chance. Take care and God bless, Cory
I know it will sound rather funny, but if the Christmas tree is big enough it would be great to find a new ironing board under it
Otherwise – fabric and books.
My Christmas list consists of the new washing machine I had to purchase yesterday because the old one bit the dust. Merry Christmas to us!!
Thanks for the giveaway!!
Last year from Santa I rec’d a new sewing machine. This year I really want the FMQ springy thingy foot. Thanks for a chance.
For Christmas, I want to be snowed in for a day or two with family. (Don’t want the power out, I’m not crazy). But I’d love for everybody to slow down for a couple of days, relax, have fun, play board games.
Peace on earth and good will to men….
Terrain is terrific, and I love some of the designs in Amy Butler’s latest line and lots of solids to go with everything else…
And some fabric for me
All I want is a gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop. Easy peasy, Santa!
Thanks for the interview and trunk show. Beautiful fabric line.
Peace…might sound corny and overused…but in my case it would help to mend some broken hearts and bruised egos in our family first and then God knows where that might lead to in the wider community. If we could only find enough peace first in our own hearts we might extend it along with our arms to embrace those about us who are yearning for a smile, a hello even a hug and a big helping of forgiveness to those who try to hurts us. It would make Christmas a whole lot nicer for everyone. I have tried to run away from this time of year…but it always come back again..this year I am determined to face my fear and just do it.
Gift vouchers for quilt shops! Oh, and a straight stitch plate for my machine!
On my list is a digital SLR camera and GC to my favorite machine quilter, have some tops that I need to get quilted:)
The main thing I want for Christmas is all the family here to visit and have a holiday meal – for my mother’s sake. She loves having her kids, grands, great grands, and all the spouses there-of, in the house over the holidays. You would need to meet my mother, see her smile, and hear her laugh to understand why she is so beloved.
Presents would be nice too – like a full-sized GO! with dies. Meanwhile, I would be delighted to “settle” for some terrific terrain! Thanks fatquarterly and Kate Spain!
I’m hoping for things for my other hobbies for Christmas this year. I’d love a new lens for my camera and a Garmin GPS watch for running. I wouldn’t turn down some kind of sewing related gift though
In my list a new camera and a coat.Meanwhile, new fabrics to my stash are welcome.
Hmmm…it’s time to start thinking about Christmas! I wouldn’t mind a new handbag or an espresso maker. Thanks for the opportunity!
some kindle books!
Christmas wishes fall into a couple of categories- the altruistic ones- world peace, safe and warm housing for all, a better economy. Well, the economy one is selfish since DH lost his job this year. he would really like a new one!
The sentimental ones- wanting all the family to be together, without drama…
And then there are the individual ones: I really want an IPad, and a quilt frame, and some fun, new fabrics since right now I am trying really hard to use up some of my stash. And Kate’s fabrics would definitely qualify as fun, new fabric! And I think the fabric may be the only reasonable request I have!
A foot for my sewing machine so I can practice machine quilting on my own.
I’m hoping I get a new camera for Christmas – to take pics of all my sewing projects!
Time with my hubby is a must for Christmas. It’s our anniversary, my birthday and Christmas all within a week of each other. I love to take my sewing machine with me to Cannon Beach OR and sew and would love some of my favorite line: Terrain!
I so so hope for a chair for my sewing table!!! Guess I should drop some not so subtle hints huh? Love these quilts/patterns!
Your photos of Terrain projects are wonderful eye candy! I just love this line. My wish list, other than some beautiful fabric to play with, would be an iPad and a portable scanner (to clear out some paper clutter). A little “Good Fortune” would be great as well.
Those are great projects! I’m very seriously thinking of asking my hubby to make me a project wall for Christmas. I have the design and he’s handy like that.
For Christmas I would like my family to continue to be happy and healthy ….and maybe a little sewing time for me!
Cheers from Alaska!
hopefully a cookbook, and time to do everything I need to do!
Oh how I would love a new camera for Xmas. Not to sound greedy but I sure could use a serger, I wonder what hubby will surprise me with. Thanks for the giveaway.
I would luv a sewing cabinet, the desk isn’t making the grade. More fabric for my stash, especially Good Fortune! I am praying for a better 2012!
I’d put an iPad on my list but I think it would get crossed off pretty quickly by the Man about The House! Perhaps an order to an online shop would get the nod though. Love all the Terrain projects – very inspiring!
What I want for Christmas..special time with my family and friends!
First….I am SO honored that you are using my picture (the turtle pincushion) in this post! Thank you so much for thinking it’s wonderful enough to share!! Second – I have become a HUGE Kate Spain fan. I cannot get enough of her fabrics (just ordered a very large amount of Flurry) and I love all her other outlets as well. So…with that said…anything Kate Spain is always on my list. Thank you so much!! xoxo
omg this line is my favourite fabric line ever. I pinned the very first picture I saw of it, and will have to pin several of these as well. What I want for Christmas is for my aging parents to be healthy and have a peaceful holiday together. Thank you!
This Christmas I want to have my family and friends over to celebrate and of course lots of fabric!
Kate’s collections just get better and better! I love Terrain so much – thanks for the chance to win some
On my Christmas list is ‘Modern Blocks’, Pear Tree, Echo And Ruby Star fabrics – I’m guessing I’d better buy my own presents, lol.
I guess I don’t have a Christmas list. My children, now grown up, always laugh at what I always told them I wanted_ Good happy children who love their parents and each other. Thats what I told them was the best gift. Maybe the second best would be a bunch of Kate Spain designed fabric. Good fortune would be great. Thanks
Totally crushing on that leaf print!!! Lizzy House’s foxes are on my Christmas list!
The only thing on my list besides world peace, the end to homelessness and hunger is a long arm machine. I feel so small for asking for anything when there is so much in this world to conquer.
On a lighter note a little Kate Spain would brighten my days.
Happy holidays to all!
My Christmas wish list this year is time with my beautiful grandchildren, and maybe some Good Fortune!
Top of my list is a speedball ultimate screenprinting kit so that I can make up some of my own fabric design ideas to go with the great fabrics that im addicted to buying, such as Terrain!
Hopefully Christmas will bring a little quality quilting time
Here’s to a Happy Christmas to one and all!
On my list is any of Kate’s fabrics and some organizational stuff–baskets etc –for my craft supplies. And especially good health for my family.
For Christmas this year, I’m making the same quilt for my 2 nieces, my mom, and myself. The center part will be the same, but the borders will be the same print in different colors. That way, all the girls will have the same “family” quilt. Thanks for the opportunity to win!=)
I don’t make a Christmas list, but if I did, I’d ask for everyone to be happy and healthy. This has been a tough year health-wise so having my family all together will be the best gift I could get.
Thank you so much for the giveaway. Kate Spain is my favorite fabric designer.
I like surprises for Christmas. Getting some of this fabric would make a great present! Thanks for the giveaway.
I love homemade presents. I would love to win fabric what fun it would be to sort thru the box.
Time with family and with little to no drama sounds like a great present to me.
My wish is to have my husband’s failing kidney stabilize. In the meantime, I quilt.
I’m really hoping for an Acuquilt gizmo, so that I can make even more quilt lovelies. I really enjoy Kate Spain’s designs.
Man… already thinking about Christmas.
If I could ask for the impossible, it would just to have more time. More time to do everything and anything with all the people I love. But a choice of some of my favorite fabrics would be awesome.
My Christmas list this year includes:
A new sewing machine (one that’s a step up from the basic one I have – maybe a Bernina, Santa?)
Some running shoes (I wanted these last Christmas too, apparently Santa thinks shoes are boring biscuits.)
More dies for my Accuquilt GO!
But I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if Santa sent me fabric!

What fun! LOVE Terrain! One of my favorite Kate lines ever!
Hmmm….for Christmas….I would love a bundle of wool felt to make some goodies the kids and I have been drooling over, but will probably be more practical and ask for a vacuum since mine is about to croak! LOL!
Thanks for the chance!
Thanks for the inspiration – as if I don’t already have enough things on my list. I’d like to try screen printing fabric and so that is on my christmas list….and inks…..and fabric……and stamp blocks……….
What a lot of beautiful colour. On my Christmas list…time to sew, fabric, time to sleep, peace and quiet, time to sew, maybe some fabric, definetly some warm gloves! thanks for the chance to win
what a great line of fabric. Love the colors.
I’m hoping for an Accuquilt Go! from Santa. I’m just getting into sewing for my family and friends, and hoping to make some extra income with my sewing, too! I love all of Kate’s collections, most especially Terrain. Thank you for such beautiful fabric designs. Keep up the wonderful work Kate!
I’m hoping for either a kindle touch — shocking that it doesn’t have to do with quilting, I know. =)
Would love to win some. This looks like a great line!!
In all honesty, there is Terrain on my X-Mas list…along with a few other fabric lines, and maybe a book or too. Can you say Modern Christmas!!
Thanks for this opportunity!!
Love seeing all the projects made with Terrain! I am working on a quilt with Central Park fabrics right now and Terrain might be next!
Love your designs. They are always at the top of ANY wish list of mine!!
Thanks!
Top of my list is an AccuQuilt Go!
Love it
So lovely..
What I’d love more than ever is more time. Time to use the patterns and fabric that I have in my stash so I can make room for more new goodies!
I’d love some terrain! my daughter loves purple!
my Christmas wish is to be with my family, for snow, & some fabric cash!;)
I’m actually kind of stuck on my Christmas list. The only thing I’ve thought of so far is Carole Matthew’s new book “All Wrapped up in you”
my Christmas list of course has fabric on it – batiks, Gypsy Bandanna, more polka dots, solids – pretty much any kind!
Love, love, love Terrain!!
I’m hoping Santa brings some quilting tools! I used the Terrain fabric line to make a stacked coins quilt and the colors are amazing!
I’m wishing for more lighting to be installed in my sewing room! It’s so dark in there. Cute fabrics!
I always hope for cold weather. I live in the tropical south! Anything for my sewing is always great. Loving Terrain and can’t wait for Good Fortune. Maybe my good fortune will be to win some Terrain!
I already got my present for the next few years {birthdays included}… a new {to me} fancy camera. Now I just need some more time to sew up some yummy projects so I can use it to take pictures.
It is soooo hard to believe it is time to think Christmas once again. I think a vacation with my family — no other cares or concerns — would be the best thing I could receive — followed only by something handmade/crafted by someone I love.
I’m hoping for new ironing board a small one to take on retreat with me to go with the iron cozy a friend is making me.
My Christmas list includes a new job (just finished up my degree and looking after a great temp job ended!), lots of fluffy snow to play in with my little boy, and pre-cuts (of course)!
Hummm – books, fabric, snow and marzipan!
Good Fortune on a Christmas list sounds good if it’s available then. I’m hoping for a piece of furniture for my re-painted and empty foyer. I give only a little thought to what I want though — I’m always preoccupied finishing up quilts to give to others. I think I need to start earlier in the year!
I am hoping for a visit from my son with my three grandsons who I haven’t met yet. That would make my Christmas the best ever!

Santa, all I want for Christmas is for my family to be healthy, happy, and prosperous….
Thanks for this fun giveaway!
I always feel bad asking for anything, because I have bought so much for myself throughout the year. I just took a long arm quilting class and am planning on buying myself a walking foot for my machine before Christmas – I think those will count as my presents. I will take whatever little presents my little girls make me, but all I want is to sleep in, have some hot chocolate and snow.
I always love Kate Spain’s fabric it is so vibrant and beautiful. The age I am at I don’t really need anything anymore. My real wish if for my family to all be together for christmas. Thanks Sandra
love these fabrics! Her designs are so refreshing!
I want a walking foot for my bernina. And speakers for my ipod. And a responsiblilty free day where all I have to do is sew.
I wish for all of the happy healthy family stuff too. And then I want someone to give me a trip to Spain and Portugal for Christmas. I could sew on the way…
I’d like Santa to bring me a Go cutter…….they are so cool.
Last year I got EQ7 and I’m still trying to learn it! Darn.
thanks so much for the chance to win.
Happy sewing
What gorgeous projects! Lots of inspiration there!
I would really love a new camera…my 5-year-old, sand-filled, point-and-shoot just isn’t cutting it anymore.
I would love some new fabric for Christmas. I recently had a health scare, so I’m wishing for continued good health in 2012. Thanks for the giveaway.
A Go Baby is at the top of the list and some books…especially about fabric design.
I love this line! What I want for Christmas: the good sense to be very selective in making any long-term, time-sucking commitments that hold me back from all things creative.
Gorgeous colors in Terrain! I’d love to have extra time with family and friends this Christmas. Thanks for the chance to win!
I love Terrain!!! I had originally wanted a cricut, but with my new found love of sewing and quilting, I want a Go Baby, and some quiet time to quilt!!!
Terrain is great and would make a great Christmas gift. If I could dream of a fun gift, I would say an Ipad so I could use all those great quilting apps:)
T.I.M.E. I’ll ask my parents to skip the presents and to put sewing time under the tree this year. That is, they take my two little monsters and I’ll take entire days off – just for sewing – alone or even better with friends?
Great gift, isn’t it?
Ihome is at the top of my list. Love all your fabric lines. Keep of the great colors and designs. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity
I haven’t quite started thinking about Christmas yet, but I have been eyeing a new underwater camera.
Hands down my favorite line of fabric – EVER! I would like Santa to bring me a couple of yards of each colorway, but alas, I don’t think I’ve been that good of a girl this year!
Thanks for the give away!
Love Terrain…so pretty! On my Christmas list is something very basic that I wish for every year (since I have one daughter with a chronic illness)….health and happiness for everyone. I know it sounds corny, but until you don’t have health, you realize how important it is! Thanks for the opportunity to win….
This year’s wish list will include a quilting class at my favorite quilt shop and of course more fabric. My goal is to make a quilt for each of my five children and their families. Terrain is going on my list too!
One thing… an iPad
I desparately need a cutting mat bigger than my thumb LOL!
I love Kate Spain’s collections. They are so cheerful and fun. I’m sorta hoping for a DVD/VCR player for Christmas. While I sew I play DVD/VCR’s and mostly listen. My machine has started eating my VCR’s and since they are mostly oldie but goodies, I’m not happy. I’m not so much thinking Christmas for myself, just hoping I get all my projects finished before the big day!
I so love looking at Terrain fabric and projects on the internet! I feel like I have just about everything I need right now so I’m not thinking about a christmas wish list…..just sewing up fabric!
I’ve been following someone making the Farmer’s Wife Sampler with this fabric! I recognized it when “The Drawing Board” sent me over! Great blog–I’m signing up right now!
Hmm. Christmas? Going to spin some alpaca for gifts and hoping Santa puts fabric under the tree for me!
